10.16.13 - Black Mare at the Slidebar

A few weeks back, a four-piece live version of Black Mare, featuring members of Ides Of Gemini, Black Math Horseman, and Marriages, made their first public appearance at the Slidebar in Fullerton. It was nothing short of delightful. Their second public appearance will be on December 16 2013 as support on VUM's December residency at the Echo. This show, as well other VUM residency dates (Dec. 23 with Death Valley Girls, for example), comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Also on the bill at the Slidebar show: an acoustic performance from Stephen "the Stovepipe" Brodsky of Cave-In notoriety (pictured below), Lightsystem and TS & the Past Haunts (not pictured). Watch video coverage at the bottom of the page.
Besides all of the above information, Black Mare/Ides Of Gemini and VUM have something else in common that is very interesting! Details coming soon!

6.16.13 - Heavy Blanket, Obliterations at the Satellite

Great show this night! New band Obliterations [bandcamp] is really makin' a splash.  Heavy Blanket is a bowl of whole milk for the house cat inside all of us J. Mascis fans. Too bad there was only about 40 people in attendance, one of which was Rollins (below). Another of which was Mr. James Luna of Holy Grail, who craftily pulled a quick instagram out of the camera-shy Rollins. Basically what I'm saying is, you guys all blew it!
After the pics you will find some fan-filmed video of Heavy Blanket. Yes, it's a little bumpy at first, but you'll get the idea.

Los Angeles Nista with Eddie Solis

Lately I've been hanging around Skidrow Studios on Monday nights and taking pictures of Eddie and his guests. So far I've been there on the 7th for highly influential punk bass player Chuck Dukowski (Black Flag, Chuck Dukowski Sextet) and on the 28th for exalted pro skateboarder Mike Vallely (Good For You, Revolution Mother). The 28th also happened to be Eddie's birthday. Below are a few pics from each. Anyone interested in listening can visit the website or get the app on yo phone!

Jan. 7 - Chuck Dukowski

 Jan. 28 - Mike Vallely
